I pretty much love EVERY song sung by the Carpenters whether it's Christmas or not. A little Superstar? Yes please! Rainy Days and Mondays? Got it on repeat. I just love Karen Carpenter's voice and I wish she were still around because I'm sure she would have done SO much more with it. It's really a shame that she's gone. Anyways, here are my favorites for Christmastime:
Merry Christmas, Darling
Sleigh Ride (one of my favorites of ALL TIME)
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Another one of my favorites, which I'm pretty sure I discovered by listening to Delilah is by Dan Fogelberg. It's called Same Auld Lang Syne
On the theme of Auld Lang Syne, this song from the Sex and the City soundtrack is now a holiday staple:
I just love her Irish (?) brogue and the simplicity of this song
Love this one, too. It's got the same simple single guitar and beautiful harmony
Bare Naked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan - God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
(I know this is a LONG list, but bear with me. I love this music and you're reading this because you love me, so just deal. From here on out I'll just post links to YouTube, not the actual videos. But I know you'll go watch them because you're sooooo interested in my taste in Christmas music)
- My favorite favorite favorite version of Sleigh Ride is this instrumental version by the Leroy Anderson orchestra... They make it sound like horses! Sleigh Ride
- Sort of an inside joke with my family: It Must Have Been the Mistletoe - Barbara Mandrell
- Classic musical tune that doesn't specifically mention anything about Christmas but I love it anyway- My Favorite Things - The Sound of Music (sorry the video is soooo lame)
- Gotta love claymation! Snow Miser & Heat Miser - The Year Without a Santa Claus
- And my favorites from my grandma's house: I would play these year round on a little blue cassette player: Brenda Lee - Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree & Jingle Bell Rock - Bobby Helmes (before this song was tainted by the Mean Girls slutty dance number)
