I totally forgot!

I forgot to blog about Sweetest's Day! Now, honestly, I think this is a stupid made-up holiday so I made sure that Josh knew I didn't expect anything extravagant or ridiculous. We didn't really celebrate, but a few fun things did happen!

I stayed at Josh's house Friday night ($3.99 Long Islands at Olivera's did me in) so I woke up around 6am when he was headed to work. My car was still at the farm because I was definitely not in any condition to drive home after we got back from Olivera's that night. My mom was coming to pick me up so we could go to the casino, and then she was going to drop me off at the farm so I could get my car. I mentioned to Josh that I needed to track him down when I got back to the farm so I could get the key to his house and go back and bake, shower, etc... Then he came in his room and said, "Or you can just have this" (or something along those lines... I don't remember exact words, it was 6am on a Saturday and I had a headache) and he handed me a key to his house! He said that since we've been together almost 6 months he figures he can trust me with a key now. Which I think is kind of funny... So that was my Sweetest's Day present - a key to his house : )

After leaving the casino empty handed, recovering my car, and popping some ibuprofen to calm my raging headache, I decided to do some baking for my sweetest. And Lord did I cook/bake last weekend!! I made pumpkin spice muffins (seriously the easiest thing in the world to make, recipe will follow below), peanut butter cookies (which, thanks to Josh's psycho electric oven, were charred black on the bottom and nice and doughy in the center/top. I've made these cookies a million times and that never happened before, so I blame it on his oven) spaghetti for dinner Saturday, and chili with biscuits for lunch Sunday! I think he was suprised/impressed... he even ate the peanut butter atrocities!

Recipe for Pumpkin Spice muffins: (seriously, you will never find an easier recipe. This can hardly be called baking)
1 box spice cake mix
1 can pumpkin pie filling (or regular pumpkin)
cinnamon, nutmeg, and spices of your choice to taste

Combine all ingredients and bake in muffin tin for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees. The batter will be really thick, but trust me, they're delicious!!

100 Posts... Wow!

So I always thought that if I ever made it to 100 posts that I would do something special... but nope, this is just your average, everyday, run of the mill, long overdue post. Anyways...

I'm SUPER excited right now (see, when I'm excited I talk in CAPS) because in approximately 2 hours I'm leaving work (YAYYYYY!) heading to two classes (boooooo) and then driving from Allendale to Josh's house, to Bay City! I freakin' love visiting Bay City and I'm excited for Josh to come with me this time. We're staying at my friend Erin's house since both Josh and I have Friday off (yayyy for floating holidays!) and then driving down through Saginaw, saying hi to some more peeps (maybe a "surprise" stop at SVSU for old times sake) and ultimately ending at Bronners so we can get a few of these:

(except they'll say Ashley/Josh, obvs)

OOPS! Sorry, I forgot to warn you that there was Christmas stuff in this post... but when you go to Bronner's it's pretty much unavoidable. Plus, Christmas is only 2 months and 3 days away! WOW! Where did the year go?! But I digress...

We're also eating somewhere in Frankenmuth and have yet to narrow it down to Zehnders, The Bavarian Inn, Frankenmuth Brewery (we will def be stopping here even if we don't get a meal), or Black Forest Brew Haus. I'm expecting to come home with a growler or 2 of some good ole Frankenmuth beer!! And, of course, we can't forget the winery! St. Julian's has a winery in Frankenmuth and I fully plan on stopping for a few sips and purchasing a bottle or two... or three... or four (no judging me!). Oh- and check it out! They have their '07 Riesling on sale for $5 a bottle! Two for me, please!

I'm also hoping that the fall colors are still vibrant tomorrow through the dull, dreary, cloudy day.

Wedding Recap!

I was in a wedding this weekend! My roommate from my freshman year at SVSU, the beautiful Erin Jones, married her college sweatheart, Mr. Jeffrey Frasle. It was a beautiful ceremony (even if it was Catholic ; ) ) in a beautiful church on a beautiful day in Lapeer, MI.

Getting ready - pretty flowers and a little champagne!

The beautiful bride!!

My bouquet and my Asti

Pretty blurry, but you can see how ornate the church is. Josh took this from his seat : ) I think a new DSLR camera is definitely on my Christmas list!

The cake was beautiful AND delicious! I have never had better frosting in my life!

They were so nice to each other. And, by the way, how beautiful is Erin's hair!

Getting ready to get that garter!

I caught the bouquet! Actually, it hit me and fell to the floor. Nobody dove for it, surprisingly enough, and so they forced me to pick it up. Luckily I didn't have to do anything embarassing with the best man, who caught the garter, and now I have a pretty bouquet of sweetheart roses drying in my room! Of course, this led to countless comments about how soon my wedding will be.... Which, to answer that question, is not soon at all (it's only been 5 months people! let's not jump the gun!)

The hottest people to walk the grounds at SVSU!

Me with the Maid of  Honor! I was really working the hand-on-the-hip pose!

My besties from my college days! (Note the hand on the hip again... it's a little hard to see, but it's definitely there!)

My date : )

Ugh. So I noticed that the red-eye correction on my computer sucks... So sorry!!

Fail

I made this at Wordle.net to be my new blog header...
Wordle: Blog Header

But, as you can see... it's not up there in the header where it should be. Booo! I don't know how to make it work!

Edited to add: ok, apparently persistence pays off (and a little bit of whining too!) because as you can see I figured it out! YAY!
