The Great Debate

I think we all know what I'm talking about here - Backstreet Boys v. N*SYNC. Melissa at Duoly Noted (a fabulous blog, in my humble opinion, that you should go read NOW) posted today (along with amazing video clips!!!) about Billboard's announcement of their #1 Album of the decade: N*SYNC's "No Strings Attached". Now, I'm sure this is no surprise to my fellow N*SYNC fans (that would be you, Amanda and Jenna) because we all knew that Nick Carter and his little entourage were no match for Justin's 'fro. But it just feels good to know that I was obsessed with the superior boy band (yeah, I might be a little too smug about this, but whatever). If I remember correctly, Amanda and I shared the same love for Lance, which is hilarious in retrospect. There was a group of 6 of us who hand painted black tank tops, added sequins and rhinestones, and donned our brightest pairs of Old Navy flip flops to wear to the concert. We piled into the parents' cars (because half of us couldn't drive yet, and the other half weren't allowed to drive all the way to Detroit) which we had bedecked with window paint and streamers, and set off for the Silverdome to see our loves perform for us (from our 5th row floor seats, which we waited for hours outside of Rite Aid to get).

Who wouldn't love these hotties? I always felt bad for Joey and Chris because they were definitely the less desirable of the 5.

Melissa also referenced Digital Get-Down, which is really funny because my sister actually played this for me the other day when she was home. Then we laughed about how stupid the lyrics are and how we couldn't believe that I was so obsessed. Actually, I think there's still a collage poster of them on the back of my old bedroom door at my mom's house...

Thanks for the shoutout! I love that you loved Lance! My best friend loved Lance too. I know what you mean about their awful lyrics, but doesn't it just bring a smile to your face every time you hear their stuff? Oh man, those were the days.

Ohhh maaannn what a nice trip down memory lane!! I had forgotten about the early morning Rite Aid trip!! Didn't you stay over at our house the night before so we could get up at the ass crack of dawn to drive allll the way to Lowell?? LOLLLL. That concert was like the best day of my life. And do you remember "meeting" (aka stalking and taking pics of) Justin's mom at our hotel?? She was the manager of the girl group that opened up for N*Sync... what were they called.... I know you'll know...
